PRESS RELEASE Neil Gaiman and Fully Booked to launch Philippine Graphic Fiction Awards Anthology Fully Booked is bringing multi-awarded and best-selling author Neil Gaimanto to Manila to launch the Philippine Graphic Fiction Awards Anthology, a compilation of winning entries from the contest’s first three award seasons. Neil Gaiman and Fully Booked initiated the “Philippine Graphic Fiction Awards” in 2005, after Gaiman visited the country for the first time. During that visit Gaiman and Fully Booked decided to help spur the growth of unrealistic fiction in the country, after the author realized that “there is already a fine tradition of realistic fiction in Filipino literature.” The Anthology will be launched on March 17, 2010 in Makati City. This is in line with the promotion of the band’s full-length, solo concert here in the country that will happen this June. U-Kiss is composed of Alexander, Kevin, Dong Ho, Eli, Ki Bum, Hyun, and Ki Seob. NGCP announces power shortage; Rotating brownouts expected today, March 1 The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced power shortage resulting to rotating brownouts today, March 1, as two major power plants, Sual Unit 1 (647 MW) and Masinloc Unit 1 (315 MW) shut down Feb. 28 due to boiler tube leak. The breakdown of the two power plants puts the system condition on red alert status as other generating plants in the grid are likewise currently non-operating. Still out are Kalayaan 3 (170MW), Sta. Rita 30 (254 MW), Sta. Rita 10 (254 MW) and Ilijan Plant (1200 MW). Kalayaan 3 is at present under maintenance while both Sta. Rita 30 and Sta. Rita 10 are undergoing preventive maintenance. Sta. Rita 30, however, is expected to cut in today, March 1, at 2 p.m. Ilijan Plant’s shutdown, on the other hand, was due to the outage of the Malampaya gas pipeline on Feb. 10.
