After its first book “championed” the hearts of aspiring Filipino leaders…
KAYA NATIN! MOVEMENT LAUNCHES SECOND BOOK ON EFFECTIVE, EMPOWERING LEADERSHIP WITH INTEGRITY
In its continuous effort to espouse genuine change in the Philippine government and support effective and empowering leaders with integrity, the Kaya Natin! Movement launches its second book on good governance and leadership, featuring another set of upright government officials, whose stories have inspired their respective constituents.
Entitled “The Kaya Natin! Champions: Empowering and Effective Leadership with Integrity,” the book is a compilation of 10 stories of “good governance champions,” local and national government officials who have embodied the values of effective and empowering leadership with integrity. Each chapter tells the story of one individual, from their background to their political career and their leadership lessons.
Among the featured leaders are: Secretary Juan Romeo Nereus “Neric” O. Acosta, Presidential Adviser for Environmental Protection; Representative Arlene “Kaka” J. Bag-ao of Akbayan Partylist; Mayor Marivic V. Belena of San Jose City, Nueva Ecija; Mayor Gloria “Baby” Crespo-Congco of Cabiao, Nueva Ecija; Former Mayor Bae Janaree “Janjan” P. Disomimba of Tamparan, Lanao del Sur; Former Mayor Florante “Tante” S. Gerdan of Sta. Fe, Nueva Vizcaya; Provincial Administrator and Former Mayor Fermin “Perry” M. Mabulo of San Fernando, Camarines Sur; Former Mayor Mary Jane C. Ortega of San Fernando City, La Union; Mayor Cecilia Claire “Jeng” N. Reyes of Alicia, Isabela; Former Councilor Francis Melville V. Tinio of Binalonan, Pangasinan.
These former and incumbent officials are part of the roster of Champions of Good Governance of the Kaya Natin! Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership, a movement that supports progressive-minded, effective and ethical government officials and is dedicated to promoting the best practices of each champion to other local government units.
In a country where corruption in government has all too often become the norm, the inspiring leaders of the Kaya Natin! Movement featured in the book show that good governance and leadership with integrity are still possible. The book will give everyone a renewed sense of hope and belief as it shows how these ordinary men and women have gone beyond the call of duty to help improve the lives of so many Filipinos.
Kaya Natin! Lead Convener Harvey Keh said the corruption and other transgressions in the Philippine government can actually be alleviated through a rigorous advocacy on good governance. This leadership book not only targets those who are currently in the position, but also the youth, who will later succeed in governing the nation.
“The objective of this book is to highlight the positive and inspiring stories of political leaders who are doing good for the country, and how this can help bring about empowerment for ordinary Filipinos who also want to make a difference,” Keh said.
